New Program For Parents To Pay For School Meals
The Jefferson Parish Public School System has implemented a new program called Mealpay Plus by that allows parents to better manage their child’s school meal account and the student’s nutritional decisions.
Mealpay Plus is an innovative service that allows parents to pre-pay for their child’s school meals, check student purchases, and monitor account balances.
With the implementation of Mealpay Plus, schools will no longer provide any meals to students who do not have an appropriate account balance or correct amount of cash to cover the cost of the meal.
However, in the case of an emergency, the system will employ a new method to deposit funds immediately via check, credit card, or debit card transaction over the telephone to restore the account balance.
For a small program fee, parents can make a prepayment into the student’s meal account. Funds deposited through Mealpay Plus are usually available for student use within a matter of minutes. This feature eliminates the need to send a check to school or worry about lost or forgotten lunch money.
If parents prefer to make payments or check balances via telephone, parents can use this special JPPSS toll-free number: 1-877-713-5436.
To create a student account, visit www.mealpayplus.com Follow the on-screen directions and register your student using his or her student Person ID number. Parents are urged to enroll in the new program as soon as possible. For more information, call Child Nutrition at 349-7694.
